Praying Your Pain and Betrayal
October 27, 2017
"Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me." - Psalm 41:9, ESV
Many years ago, I felt betrayed by a friend.
I thought he had turned against me. I felt what the psalmist felt.
I felt that confidences and trust had been turned against me.
I think that in the same situation today, I would feel differently, but at that time, I shared the same sense of betrayal, hurt, and anger.
The psalmist pours this out to God as we are invited to pour out our souls to God.
Sure, we are immature in our attitudes and emotions as I was. God understands, meets us, and heals us if we will be healed. In the day of my feeling of betrayal, which I have long since ceased to feel with pain, I found this verse and it gave me comfort to pray it to God.
There are prayers in the Psalms that express exactly what you are feeling today and are available to be prayed so that you know that you are not alone in your feelings.
